Surely much more than an intellectual pursuit in a specific discipline must constitute the totality of life. But can one still choose it the essence of a life knowing the consequences of his choice? Artists and writers often proudly announce that they are one with their art. I suppose scientists belong to a more practical and reasonable specie. I consider it a blessing really.
