Useful Lies

The art is a lie that leads us to the truth.
The diagram is a lie that leads us to the truth.
The model is a lie that leads us to the truth.

why both diagram and model lies?

I sort of understand why art is a lie since it directs us to something not existed but vivid, like a lie.

Diagram and models are the same. Who ever saw a real "linear" system? It simply doesn't exist, but it helps us to understand more complicated nonlinear systems (Many philosopher may not agree).

Also, diagrams and models can be misleading and gave layman or researchers who care only about the method wrong picture of the real system.
