Last paragraph is kind of saddening, we all feel those moments.

Do you know any suriving calligraphy work from Su Shi. I saw one by Huang Ting Jian in Met yesterday....see my latest post.

as I understand it, what SuShi was trying to say is that one's life is part of the history and process. Meaning and happiness is all relative to the beholder. The influence people has to the history is just as natural as what water does to the river. If we can enjoy the current second of our passing-by is more enough.

... yeah, but only if you do care about "history" as much as individuals; or, you care individuals as less as history. for me, the ultimate dilemma of humanbeing, as well as other forms of life, is their finite life time ...

one's life is more like the moon light, rather than the moon, which exists for ever (relatively)...

I got his point, but wasn't convinced.

as an anology, a life of a human being is more or less like the moonlight of certain night.

"moonlight of certain night", that's perfect.
